Photo Contest July 6, 2012
Great Escape – May 31, 2012, 11:05pm – f/22.0 – 25.0 – ISO 6400 – Canon Rebel T3I – no edits
1 – Photographics Society Contest – 4th Dimension
2 – I created this photo by keeping the shutter speed open. By taking an LCD light I was able to draw one of my favorite things to draw which is a palm tree on a island. I made sure it was dark outside because the shutter speed would be picking up a lot of light. After taking the picture I then posted it. I did not do any edits as I felt it didn’t need any. It was a lot of fun to shoot these type of pictures.
-I chose this contest because I am a member of the Photographics Society and wanted to contribute. The Photographics Society provides BYU-I students an opportunity to participate in various contests of different themes. I wanted to participate in the 4th dimension due to the newly learned skill with light sketching/painting.

Rise Above – 24 x 36 – May 3, 2012, 3:32pm Rexburg ID – f/11.0 – 1/80 – ISO 400 – Canon Rebel T3I – Edits: hue/saturation, levels, vibrance, and color balance. Extra edits: using camera raw I adjusted the colors using more blue tints than yellow to balance out the colors. I then brought it into Photoshop and sharpened some of the flowers to make it really stand out. As I took this picture I wanted to make sure it was sharp and had great composition. The lighting wasn’t that great when I took it, but adjusting it in Photoshop and camera raw really helped my capture what I saw. I picked this photo because I loved it! I thought it was interesting composition to have one of the flowers rise above. I love these kind of flowers anyway and think they have great color and personality. Another reason I chose this photo was because I can hang it up in my house and have it look great.
